A Capitola police officer spotted a Santa Cruz man hiding behind an electrical box early Friday, creating enough suspicion for the officer to look into what the man was doing.
It resulted in the arrest of 27-year-old William McNeils on suspicion of heroin possession, police reported.
McNeils was hiding behind the box on 47th Avenue near the railroad tracks. When he saw the cops, he tried to avoid the officers and threw a small container over the fence into an adjacent backyard, police reported.

McNeils, who is on probation, was arrested and officers got the container of heroin back, police said.
