In Memory: Former Police Chief Of Scotts Valley Passes Away From Cancer
Chief Thomas Bush was a 29-year veteran of the Scotts Valley Police Department and active community member.

A former Scotts Valley police chief died Saturday after a bout with cancer, police said.
Chief Thomas Bush was a 29-year veteran of the Scotts Valley Police Department and began his career in 1973 as a reserve police officer.
Bush became the department’s first full-time detective in 1975 and was subsequently promoted to sergeant, lieutenant and captain before being appointed police chief in July 2001.

Bush was a long-standing member of the Scotts Valley Host Lions Club and served on its board of directors.
The Exchange Club of Scotts Valley named him officer of the year in 1978, 1982 and 1997.

Bush received more than 90 commendations during his career, according ton the department.
