People have been killed from Santa Cruz to Aptos already this year.
Mid-County Homicides 2012
- May 30: in a drive-by shooting on the Freedom Boulevard overpass on Highway 1. Details are still emerging about this homicide.
- May 7: in apparent random stabbing on the 300 block of Broadway in Santa Cruz. Collins was a well-known business owner.
- March 1: Nathan Connally, 19, was shot and killed in front of the Emerald Bay Apartments on Soquel Drive. Connally had an extensive criminal history and no arrests have been made in connection to his murder.
Note: On Dec. 11, 2011, by Marcos Chavez in Chavez's Capitola apartment. Chavez has since appeared in a preliminary hearing and will face trial.
