Three acres near the Pogonip Park clubhouse burned.

Fire officials are investigating a wildfire that burned inside a Santa Cruz park Monday afternoon as suspicious.

At 12:04 p.m., firefighters responded to reports of a wildfire at Pogonip Park, according to fire officials.

When firefighters arrived, the fire had burned approximately 3 acres and was threatening the park’s clubhouse. Fire crews were able to protect the clubhouse and slow the spread of the fire, but because of wind and weather conditions, a spot fire started in a meadow west of Golf Club Drive.
