Patch Picks: Capitola Restaurants Preparing Easter Brunch

Easter Sunday Brunch is just around the corner, and five of Capitola's top restaurants are already drawing up some elaborate menu plans.

1. The Chaminade Resort is offering an extensive Sunday Brunch buffet as well as entertainment for the little ones. If you have kids, you may want to schedule your brunch around the Easter Egg Hunts which will be held on the Courtyard Terrace and lawn at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. A golden egg hidden at each hunt wins the finder an Easter basket of goodies. 

There will also be balloon artists from Adventure Balloons. Brunch includes a special kids' menu, honey ham with Jack Daniels glaze, a seafood bar with dungeness crab Legs, omelets made to order, a variety of desserts and much more.

2. Sanderlings Restaurant at the Seascape Resort will be serving Easter Sunday brunch from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The brunch buffet includes an extensive salad selection, including grilled asparagus salad with manchego, arugula with braised baby beets, and pasta salad. Savory breakfast items include a tomato tart, scrambled eggs, smoked bacon and chicken apple sausage, German apple pancakes and Seascape benedict with crab cakes.

Main Course items include skillet fried chicken, roasted lamb leg, carved prime rib with au jus and horseradish, apple poached salmon on root vegetables with apple jack butter sauce, a seafood station including oysters on the half shell and crab claws. A dessert display will feature several desserts, including fruit smoothies and bread pudding. A kid’s station with macaroni and cheese and other favorites will also be set up!

3. will be serving Easter brunch starting at noon, with plated specials to choose from at reasonable prices, like the baked ham with green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy for $11.95, or the dungeness benedict for $16.95. Dinner specials include Petrale sole with creamed spinach linguini tossed with tomates and oil for $17.95 and a hand cut filet with saffron risotto, asparagus spears and bernaise sauce. The full menu will also be available for those who wish to order something else.

4. will be serving dinner all day starting at 11:30 a.m. on Easter Sunday. Local favorite Chef Ashley Hosmer will be serving a special slow roasted leg of lamb and Corralitos ham, along with the complete dinner menu.

If you haven’t yet checked out the Shadowbrook, this may be a good excuse to do so. Your kids will love the cable car that takes you from the top of the hill down to the restaurant, or you can meander down their garden path. The Shadowbrook provides world-class service, and fine food and wine in a historical location that feels otherworldly.

5. Ma Maison, Aptos’s number one French restaurant, will be serving an Easter Sunday brunch buffet from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The buffet will be set with salads and smoked salmon, six dinner entrees including leg of lamb provencial, ham with a port wine sauce, French Talouse sausasage, scrambled eggs and ciboulette, French toast and a fresh fruit salad.
