Pedestrian Airlifted to Hospital After Being Hit By Car
The crash happened just before 6 a.m. on Soquel Avenue.

A pedestrian was airlifted to a hospital with major injuries after a vehicle struck her early this morning, according to Santa Cruz police.
Santa Cruz police officers responded to reports of the collision at Soquel Avenue and Morrissey Boulevard at 5:54 a.m. and arrived to find a woman lying in the roadway.
According to police, detectives are still working to identify the victim.

The victim had been crossing Soquel Avenue when a 2001 Acura traveling east struck her, police said. The victim suffered major injuries and was transported to a Bay Area trauma center, according to police.
The extent of her injuries and her current condition were not immediately available.

The driver of the vehicle, a 24-year-old San Jose woman, stayed at the scene of the collision and cooperated with investigators. According to police, no arrests or citations have been made.
Police closed Soquel Avenue at Morrissey Boulevard while they investigated the crash.
The roadway reopened at about 1 p.m., police said.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
