Photos: New Shopping Center in Progress

Finally, construction has started on the new mini-mall at 41st Avenue and Soquel Drive.

The lot at Soquel Drive and 41st Avenue has served as a graveyard for cars far past their running days for years.

The sign showing the theoretical shopping center set to be built there started fading months and months ago. A whole lot of nothing seemed to be happening on the land.

But in July when Central Fire used the lot for a training burn, getting rid of the uninhabited building on the plot of land, it seemed plans for the property might finally be in motion.

Those suspicions have finally been confirmed by Scotts Valley-based construction workers on site laying foundation for the advertised shopping center.

In March we asked you what you wanted to see go in the new mini-mall. Commenters asked for everything from Pretzel Time to a full service nursery to a Jewish deli to a women's health club.
