Police Chief Names Employees of the Year

A duo from the police department earned high marks at Thursday's city council meeting.

In addition to , Police Chief Rudy Escalante also recognized two employees from within his ranks.

Each year, the Capitola Police Department names two employees of the year, as voted on by the entire department. The chief then publicly recognizes the winners in front of the city council.

This year, the awards went to Senior Officer Pedro Zamora and Administrative Assistant Lorrie Wilson.

Zamora has been with the Capitola Police Department since 2006 and is often seen with his trusty German Shepherd. Mayor Mike Termini told Escalante during the presentation that he once did a ride-along with Zamora and was highly impressed.

Wilson started with the PD in 2001, and Escalante gave her top praise for coordinating .
