Santa Clara County Coroner IDs Two Victims of Gilroy-Area Plane Crash

The Cessna 140A the two were flying in crashed on Saturday evening as they were on their way from Hollister to Watsonville.

Two people killed in a plane crash Saturday night near state Highway 152 east of Gilroy have been identified as Jon Richard Dennis and Kiely Renee Vaca, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office.

Dennis, 69, was a resident of Gilroy, and Vaca, 18, was from San Jose, the medical examiner’s office reported.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at 10 a.m. Sunday morning from a rancher who reported seeing wreckage near Highway 152 and Canada Road east of Gilroy, sheriff’s deputies said.

The Cessna 140A the two were flying in crashed on Saturday evening as they were on their way from Hollister to Watsonville, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

No one was injured on the ground and the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will be involved in the investigation into the crash, deputies said.
