Santa Cruz Area-Author Pens Debut Novel 'The Moment Of Everything'
The tale is set in Silicon Valley where a former tech worker finds a very intriguing surprise inside a used book.
Using only using ink and paper, books have the unique ability to
spark to life the imagined adventures that lie between its pages. And
in an increasingly digital age, booksβand the bookstores that house
themβare becoming more and more a hallmark of our culture.
To that end, Shelly Kingβs debut, THE MOMENT OF EVERYTHING is a
gem of a novel that at its core celebrates not only bookstores, but
books themselves.
Maggie DuprΓ¨s, recently βinvoluntarily separated from payrollβ at a
Silicon Valley startup, is whiling away her days in The Dragonflyβs
Used Books, a Mountain View institution, waiting for the Next Big
Thing to come along.
While her days now are filled with swashbuckling romances and the occasional scuffle for the best and comfiest seat in the store, proving sheβs still βgot itβ remains at the top of her to-do list.
So when the opportunity arises for her to network at a Bay Area
book club, Maggie jumps at the chanceβeven if it means having to
read Lady Chatterleyβs Lover, a book she hasnβt encountered since
college, in one sitting. But the edition she finds at The Dragonfly is no typical edition of Chatterley-itβs an ancient hardcover with notes in the margins between two besotted lovers of long ago. With this discovery,
Maggie begins to search for the lovers and their fate, hoping to find not only where their story leads, but where this next chapter in her life is leading her.

More Praise for THE MOMENT OF EVERYTHING
βIf the cast of Girls moved to the Silicon Valley and got tech jobs, if the correspondence in Youβve Got Mail took place in the pages of a used book, you might find The Moment of Everything at this hypercool
intersection of retro appeal and modern smarts. Shelly King has drawn a perfect heroine for this very moment -- snarky enough to make you laugh and yet satisfyingly full of hope and soul.

βPopulated with an endearing, eccentric cast of characters, and told with sharp Southern humor, The Moment of Everything is a gift for those who believe in the magic of bookstores...and in the power of
books.ββTracy Guzeman, author of The Gravity of Birds
βIn Shelly Kingβs charming novel, a young woman finds love letters in an old copy of Lady Chatterleyβs Lover. Her quest to discover their source leads her in and out of the many worlds of Silicon Valley, and
