Santa Cruz County Man Dies When Car Spins Out Of Control Today On Hwy 9
The accident was reported early Wednesday morning.

A 31-year-old man was killed this morning when he lost control of his car on state Highway 9 north of Ben Lomond in Santa Cruz County and collided with an oncoming SUV, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The man, a resident of Boulder Creek, was traveling north on Highway 9 north of California Drive in his silver 2002 Pontiac Grand Am around 6:40 a.m. when he lost control as he drove through a left curve in the roadway, CHP Officer Brad Sadek said.
His car spun out of control into the southbound side of the highway, where the passenger side of his car collided with a 1990 GMC Suburban, according to Sadek.

The driver of the Grand Am was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV, a 38-year-old Boulder Creek man, was unhurt, CHP officials said.
CHP investigators have so far determined that speed was a factor in the crash but alcohol or drugs were not involved and the SUV driver was not arrested, Sadek said.
