Short Council Meeting to Focus on Capitola Parking

With parking still a nightmare in Capitola, the city council will make that a focus on Thursday.

There's not much on the agenda for Thursday's meeting of the Capitola City Council. But the clear focus of the night will be parking in Capitola Village.

The council will consider expanding parking time limits in a consent calendar item and will also discuss a contract to design the new parking lot that will be built where Pacific Cove Mobile Home Park has been for decades. The park was shut down after the two floods of March, 2011.

  • Mayor Mike Termini will make a proclamation celebrating the Community Foundation of Santa Cruz County's 30th anniversary. 
  • On the Consent Calendar, the council is expected to approve the Capitola-Soquel Chamber of Commerce's request to extend Village parking from two hours to three hours between Nov. 22 and Dec. 25. 
  • A contract is expected to be approved with Bowman & Williams Consulting Civil Engineers for $62,468.30 to design the new Pacific Cove Parking Lot.
