Taste at the Tee Raises $26,500 for Local Cancer Support Organzations

Every penny will be donated to local cancer charities.

New Leaf Community Markets shot a hole in one for local cancer support services at their third annual Taste at the Tee golf tournament which took place July 24 at Seascape Golf Club. New Leaf raised $26,500 for Santa Cruz Cancer Benefit Group (SCCBG) who will donate all of the funds to their six local beneficiaries: Hospice of Santa Cruz, Jacob’s Heart Children’s Cancer Association, Katz Cancer Resource Center, WomenCARE, Teen Kitchen Project and UC Santa Cruz Fellowship for Cancer Research.

“140 participating golfers and 42 sponsors had a great time, and it was gratifying knowing that the proceeds will help local groups provide vital services to our community, as well as conduct research for cancer treatment and prevention,” said Scott Roseman, founder and co-owner of New Leaf Community Markets. “Santa Cruz Cancer Benefit Group is extremely grateful to New Leaf Community Markets for selecting us as the sole beneficiary of their 2014 Taste at the Tee tournament and for their long standing partnership with us. Thanks to them, our cancer patient support and cancer research beneficiaries will reap the rewards of the hard work and support of Scott Roseman and his incredible crew at New Leaf. A hole in one!” said Terry Hardin, board member, SCCBG.

Taste at the Tee began with a BBQ lunch provided by Al Fresco sausages and Ozery Bakery, and then the golfers took to the links for a shot-gun scramble. Throughout the day, food and beverages at each hole fueled the play under a sunny sky. The event concluded with dinner, silent auction, and raffle.
