WomenCARE to Benefit from New Leaf's Taste at the Tee

Did you know that cancer is the second leading cause of death among women (22.1%) after heart disease (23.5%). The 3 most common cancers among women are breast cancer, lung cancer, and colorectal cancer.

Here in Santa Cruz, we are fortunate to have a wonderful nonprofit organization called WomenCARE that supports women with cancer and their families with free services. WomenCARE of Santa Cruz is one of seven local cancer related organization that will benefit from the 3rd annual New Leaf’s Taste at the Tee golf tournament.

The golf tournament will take place Thursday, July 24 at Seascape Golf Club in Aptos. New Leaf's goal is to raise $30,000 from the event. Last year, $22,000 was raise for Grind Out Hunger. The money raised will be distributed by SCCBG to its six beneficiaries: Hospice of Santa Cruz, Jacob’s Heart Children’s Cancer Association, Katz Cancer Resource Center, WomenCARE, UCSC Fellowship for Cancer Research and the Teen Kitchen Project. Since its founding in 1995, the SCCBG has raised over $1 million for its beneficiaries.
