13 Arrested In San Marcos Drug, Theft Crackdown

SAN MARCOS, CA — Authorities arrested 13 people as part of an illegal drug- and theft-related enforcement operation in San Marcos, the San Diego County Sheriff's Office announced Friday.

According to a news release, the arrests were part of "Operation Clean Corridor."

In May, San Marcos experienced an "increase in criminal activity, which included theft-related offenses, and illegal narcotics possession and sales."

Deputies from the Sheriff's Narcotics and Gangs Division, Gang Enforcement and Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving teams as well as detectives from the San Marcos Sheriff's Station joined forces to disrupt the criminal activity, officials said.

From June through this month, the sheriff's teams and patrol deputies "collaboratively and proactively conducted investigations focused on reducing criminal activity in San Marcos," the Sheriff's Office said.

Authorities identified five suspects "as being in possession of controlled substances for sale," officials said. "Four of those individuals have been located and arrested after search warrants were obtained and served."

Deputies conducted their operation on Wednesday and Thursday throughout San Marcos, the Sheriff's Office said. "The two-day operation resulted in the arrest of nine individuals on various charges including active arrest warrants and narcotics-related violations."

The Sheriff's Office didn't release the names of those arrested.
