Carlsbad Fire Burns 4 Acres, Evacuations Lifted

CARLSBAD, CA — A brush fire briefly prompted evacuations of businesses Friday afternoon in Carlsbad.

The blaze sparked off the 1900 block of Palomar Oaks Way, near McClellan-Palomar Airport, according to the Carlsbad Fire Department. Witnesses reported seeing smoke in the area around 11:30 a.m. The fire burned roughly four acres before firefighters halted the spread of the flames about an hour later.

As a precaution, authorities evacuated commercial properties in the area of Dryden Place, police said. No homes were evacuated. The evacuation order was lifted by 12:30 p.m.

Westbound traffic on Palomar Airport Road was stopped at Camino Vida Roble, Carlsbad Police said on Twitter. The area was cleared for firefighters on the scene.

No buildings were damaged and no injuries were reported, police said.
