Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation Discovery Gala 2025 – “Barbie’s Dream Lagoon”

This year’s Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation’s Discovery Gala themed “Barbie’s Dream Lagoon,” and celebrating the Foundation’s 35th Anniversary, will be from 5:30 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, August 23 at the Westin Carlsbad Resort & Spa, Atrium Room, 5480 Grand Pacific Drive, Carlsbad.

The event, presented by NRG, will begin with a happy hour featuring Gin ‘NTonix, a jazz and swing quartet, and Whit Aadland on guitar. A delectable three-course dinner will be served at 7 p.m. followed by a live auction. After the live auction, guests can dance the night away to DJ Barbie (Tiger Lily) or visit the Ken “Mojo Dojo Casa House” to play pool or enjoy casino type games. Prizes will be given for the winners. Black tie is optional. This year’s well-deserved honorees, Heather and Jimmy Ukegawa of the Carlsbad Strawberry Company, will be recognized for their long-time support of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation and its educational programs as well as many nonprofits in the community.

Proceeds will provide continued support for the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation’s award-winning environmental educational programs and begin fundraising for the Discovery Island, a new exhibit space that will double as a weather-proof classroom for up to 20 children.
