CARLSBAD, CA — L&L Hawaiian Barbecue has reached 100 locations in California with the opening of a new restaurant in Carlsbad, marking a major milestone for the Hawaii-based chain and underscoring the state's role as its largest U.S. market.
The new restaurant, located in La Costa Town Square, is owned by franchisee Chloe Tran, who also recently opened locations in Colton and Jurupa Valley, helping push the brand to the 100-store mark in the Golden State.
"Reaching 100 locations in California is a proud moment for our brand but it also carries special meaning," said Elisia Flores, chief executive officer of L&L Hawaiian Barbecue. "California was the first location we chose to bring the Hawaiian Barbecue we love beyond Hawaii."
Company officials said the chain's growth in the state has been driven by both long-time operators and first-time franchisees, fueled by continued demand for its Hawaiian plate lunch offerings in communities across California.
"California continues to be one of the strongest growth markets for L&L because the demand for Hawaii's local-style cuisine is already deeply established," said Josie Akana, vice president of franchising at L&L Hawaiian Barbecue. "The state's proximity to Hawaii, combined with the number of former residents and frequent visitors who understand the plate lunch experience, has created long-term momentum for the brand."
The Carlsbad restaurant is located at 7610 Via Campanile, Suite 142. The location offers dine-in, takeout, mobile ordering, delivery and catering. The restaurant is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
L&L Hawaiian Barbecue operates more than 235 locations worldwide, with additional California restaurants in development, according to the company.
