CARLSBAD, CA — Legoland California Resort will debut a new Lego Pokémon-themed play zone during this summer's Lego Festival, giving visitors an early look at interactive Lego Pokémon sets before they go on sale in August.
The limited-time experience will run July 20 through Aug. 30 at the Carlsbad theme park. The experience will feature hands-on activities where guests can build, nurture, train and battle Lego Pokémon using the company's new Lego SMART Play system. Families will also be able to build Lego Poké Balls and take photos with a giant Lego Pikachu model.
The Pokémon attraction will headline the festival's Play Zone, one of five themed areas at the event. Other festival zones include Music, Creative, Chill-Out and the Lego F1 Thrill Zone.
Legoland officials said the SMART Play system is designed to encourage screen-free, interactive play through physical building activities.
"Lego Pokémon is the perfect partner to bring families together this summer in San Diego for play without limits," said Kurt Stocks, president of Legoland California Resort. "Pokémon has inspired generations of fans, and Lego Festival gives families the chance to build, explore and bring that adventure to life together through hands-on play."
The Lego Festival is included with regular admission to Legoland California Resort.
