E-Bike Rider Killed In Collision With Vehicle In North County

VISTA, CA — An e-bike rider died after he was struck by a vehicle Saturday afternoon in Vista, authorities said.

The 26-year-old man was riding around 3:38 p.m. near South Melrose Drive and Breeze Hill Road when he crossed Melrose Drive against a red traffic signal and was struck by a northbound vehicle, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.

The rider suffered significant injuries and was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to have been factors in the crash.

The Vista Sheriff Station's Traffic Unit is investigating.
