Phoned-In Threat At Carlsbad High School Leads To Student Lock Down

CARLSBAD, CA — A phoned-in threat to Carlsbad High School led to a lockdown of the campus as police investigated the source of the call, police said.

At noon, Carlsbad Police received a report of an unidentified threat on the Carlsbad High School campus, according to the department.

"We want to clarify that the threat was made by phone, and that officers did not locate a physical threat on campus," officials said.

Carlsbad Police initiated a precautionary lockdown during their on-campus investigation. "Officers were on campus, along with our law enforcement partners, to thoroughly check the school and investigate the report.

"As of 2 p.m., the school communicated directly with families regarding student release, pickup, and after-school activities."

The police response and lockdown were precautionary measures to ensure the safety of students and staff while authorities completed their investigation.

"At this time, there is no indication of an outstanding suspect or danger to the surrounding community," police stated. "The threat appears to be unsubstantiated, and we are continuing to investigate the origin of the call."
