• Woman's Club Of Carlsbad Holiday Market To Return For 13th Year (patch.com) — Carlsbad residents can look forward to the Woman's Club of Carlsbad's 13th annual Holiday Market this November, showcasing handmade gifts, decor, food and crafts from local vendors and club members. Held at the Monroe Street clubhouse, the event raises funds to support the club's community projects throughout the city.
• New owners seek to revive historic Carlsbad Theatre (thecoastnews.com) — Carlsbad's historic downtown theater has been bought by a local investment group that hopes to turn the long-vacant landmark into a combined restaurant, bar, and live entertainment venue. The new owners say they'll work closely with the city, Carlsbad Community Theatre, and the Boys & Girls Clubs to preserve the building's character while bringing new energy and activity back to the Village.
• Fatal DUI case continued to January in Carlsbad mother's death (thecoastnews.com) — A Vista judge has postponed until January the case against the Escondido man accused of killing Carlsbad mother Vanessa Wheyland while she crossed Carlsbad Boulevard with her family. The defendant remains jailed without bail, and Carlsbad police have also arrested a woman suspected of helping hide evidence after the fatal collision.
