SAN MARCOS, CA — All eastbound lanes of state Route 78 will close overnight through Thursday in San Marcos for maintenance work, Caltrans announced.
The closures are scheduled from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday at South Rancho Santa Fe Road while crews replace roadway sensors used to weigh moving vehicles.
Drivers will be detoured off eastbound SR-78 at South Rancho Santa Fe Road and can re-enter the freeway using the nearby on-ramp.
The work is part of a $126 million project to improve a 17.7-mile stretch of SR-78 between Interstate 5 in Oceanside and Broadway and Lincoln Parkway in Escondido.
Caltrans warned that nearby residents and businesses may experience increased traffic, construction noise and lighting during the closures.
The schedule is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
Drivers can check current road conditions and closures at Caltrans QuickMap.
