CARLSBAD, CA — Coastal rail service through Carlsbad and between San Diego and Oceanside will be suspended for one weekend in early November as crews perform routine maintenance and infrastructure work, the North County Transit District announced.
All COASTER service will be suspended Saturday, Nov. 7, and Sunday, Nov. 8, with regular service expected to resume Monday morning, Nov. 9.
Several test runs are planned throughout the weekend, but the trains will not be available to passengers.
Maintenance work will begin Friday, Nov. 6, and continue through 3 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9. Crews will use heavy equipment, power tools and bright lights during the work.
Residents and businesses near Seafarer Place and Franciscan Road in Carlsbad may experience noise and other disruptions. A noise ordinance will be in effect in those areas, according to North County Transit District.
The weekend closure is part of a series of regularly scheduled maintenance projects that allow crews to safely work along the tracks and complete railroad improvements.
Residents are urged to remain alert and use only designated railroad crossings while equipment is operating along the tracks.
