BevMo! Opening In Carlsbad; Festivities Planned

CARLSBAD, CA – BevMo! is opening its first Carlsbad store on Thursday, March 14 with a celebration that will feature company representatives and local officials taking part in a ceremonial sabering of a giant champagne bottle to christen the new location, plus an ice cream cart, a radio station remote, games, gift-bag giveaways and champagne tastings of Mumm Napa and G.H. Mumm.

The grand opening celebration will take place at 4 p.m., with doors officially opening at 9 a.m.

The new 8,000-square-foot store, the beverage retailer’s 146th in California, will be at 2662 Gateway Road and will employ four full-time employees and more than a dozen part-time workers, with more to follow during the holidays, BevMo! officials said.

“We’ve longed to have a presence in Carlsbad because it such an ideal location,” said Greg Endom, SVP of real estate and construction. “This new store location increases convenience for the many existing customers who are already driving to our nearby stores in Encinitas and Oceanside.”

The shelves will be stocked with more than 2,200 different wines, 2,000 spirits and nearly 4,000 beers. Beginning Saturday, March 23, the business plans regular customer tastings of wine, beer and spirits on a rotating basis.

On Sunday, March 17, the celebration will continue with samplings of fan favorite Proper No 12, an Irish whiskey, managers said. Additionally, patrons can enjoy bottle engravings of Don Julio and Johnnie Walker products, for a nominal fee, after in-store purchase.

The Carlsbad BevMo! will be open Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays. For more information, visit http://www.bevmo.com.
