Brush Fire Sparks At The Crossings At Carlsbad

CARLSBAD, CA – A small brush fire sparked Friday afternoon at The Crossings at Carlsbad.

The slow-moving fire burned about three-quarters of an acre and was contained to the brush in the outskirts of the golf course, according to Carlsbad Fire Division Chief Mike López. Carlsbad and Vista firefighters stopped the forward spread of the flames within 20 minutes.

The fire, which was reported at 1:52 p.m., started after a bird struck a power line, López said.

Crews were mopping up the scene.
