Carlsbad Gas Station Sells $292,587 Mega Millions Lotto Ticket

The winning ticket was bought at the Poinsettia Village Chevron at 7170 Avenida Encinas in Carlsbad.

Someone is holding a winning Lottery ticket purchased in Carlsbad for Friday's Mega Millions jackpot.

Poinsettia Village Chevron sold the runner-up Mega Millions lottery ticket worth more than $292,000, California Lottery officials said Saturday.

The lucky winner matched five of six winning numbers in the Sept. 23 drawing, which were 21, 27, 32, 40 and 52, but missed the Mega number, 36, officials said. Whoever won the $292,587 prize has 180 days to claim it. The California Lottery directs the winner or winners to sign the back of the ticket, keep it in a safe place then contact lottery officials or visit a local district lottery office.

Since no one won the jackpot, Tuesday's game will be worth $96 million. Mega Millions is played in California and 41 other states.
