Carlsbad Halloween Event Guide

Halloween is here! If you still don’t have plans, don’t fret. Check out our list of fun and frightening Halloween happenings taking place in Carlsbad.

HAUNTED HOUSE

You haven’t been truly frightened until you’ve visited the Fright Institute. The 6,666-square-foot “live” haunted house offers animatronics, costumed actors and special effects. The Fright Institute, which is one of the biggest haunted houses in California, is located at 1822 Marron Rd. Suite 100. Tickets are available at the door and cost $13 for general admission and $11 for active military, police and firefighters. HALLOWEEN TALE

What is Halloween without a haunting tale? The Carlsbad Playreaders will bring Emily Dendinger’s Hideous Progeny to life at the  Monday night. The cast will present a  of the story, which uncovers the events that led Mary Shelley to write her haunting novel Frankenstein. The play reading will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the library’s Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium, located at 1775 Dove Lane. Tickets are a suggested donation of $5 for adults and $1 for students. For more information, visit carlsbadplayreaders.org.

MOVIE NIGHT

Snack on some candy at the movies. Paranormal Activity 3—a perfect pick for Halloween—is playing at the Moviemax Theatres at . Scared of scary movies? FESTIVAL OF LIGHT

Looking for some free family fun? The is holding its celebration. The free festival will offer games and booths with candy prizes. There will also be food and cakewalk tickets. The event is taking place 6-8 p.m. at the church, which is located at 3175 Harding St. For more information, visit 3c.org.
