Carlsbad High School started off the school year on a high note by winning their first home football game against Great Oakes High School 41-17. CHS students, alumni and Carlsbad community members came down to support the team on Aug. 30 by wearing black for the game's "back in black" theme.
Spirited members of the student body sat up front in the loud crowd section where they could participate in cheers led by seniors and ASB members, Spencer Beyer, Riley Hoffman and Troy Durie.
At half-time, when the Lancers were up 21-7, spectators enjoyed performances from the varsity cheerleaders, Lancer Dancers, band and color guard.
During the second half, the crowd reached their peek enthusiasm as the Lancers brought home their first win of the season 41-17.
"It was a great game," CHS senior Jackie Nakamura said. "I'm really pumped up to go to all the football games and be in the loud crowd for my senior year."
