Carlsbad High School students are in the running to design Vans shoes. The local teens designed sneakers in the contest and have made it to the semi-final voting stage.
CHS art teacher Kelly Foulk said the school's art department could win $50,000 and the chance for their shoes to be produced and sold in Vans' stores.

Voting ends at 9 a.m., PST on May 12. The finalists will be announced the same day.
