Carlsbad OKs New Community Policing Team
Each council district will have a dedicated officer focused on local concerns and community engagement.
CARLSBAD, CA — The Carlsbad City Council last week approved the creation of a Community-Oriented Policing and Problem-Solving team, expanding the Carlsbad Police Department's community-focused efforts.
The new team will focus on proactive policing, data analysis and collaboration with residents, businesses and community organizations to identify criminal trends and quality-of-life concerns, according to the department.
Officials said assigning officers specifically to this work will allow for more consistent responses to recurring issues, development of long-term solutions and increased community outreach. The change is also expected to help patrol officers focus on responding to calls for service, supporting the department's efforts to improve response times.
