Carlsbad Police Celebrate National Night Out 2023
The Carlsbad Police Department will join law enforcement agencies across the nation to promote strong police-community partnerships.

CARLSBAD, CA — In an effort to promote community trust and transparency in local law enforcement, the Carlsbad Police Department will participate in a variety of National Night Out events Tuesday in the city.
Carlsbad police are slated to attend more than a dozen local events and visit with hundreds of community members throughout the city, according to the department. The events will take place from 5:30-9 p.m.
"We have about 15 communities who have signed up to participate," Carlsbad police spokesperson Denise Ramirez told Patch.

She said that five groups of five officers and other personnel from the department will visit each of the gatherings for about 90 minutes throughout the evening. Personnel from the Carlsbad Fire Department will also attend some of the events.
National Night Out aims to promote strong police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, according to the annual community-building campaign.

More than 38 million people across 17,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories and military bases will come together for similar events. Communities celebrate National Night Out with block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and other events.
"This is a night for our nation to stand together and promote awareness, safety and neighborhood unity," national project coordinator Matt Peskin said. "National Night Out showcases the vital importance of police-community partnerships and citizen involvement. When law enforcement and the community work closely together, some amazing things can happen."
