Carlsbad Race Car Driver Survives Explosive Crash [Video]

Ron Capps, of Carlsbad resident, walked away from an explosive crash in the National Hot Rod Association's Winter Nationals in Pomona over the weekend. 

"All I can really remember is the flash and an orange ball of flame," Capps told 10 News after his engine exploded when he was traveling at more than 300 mph. "Things were flying by like I was in hyperspace and that's a good thing, then 'kaboom.'"
