Carlsbad Reads Together, Rain Or Shine In April 2023
In April, Carlsbad library will once again host its annual book club, connecting the community through reading, discussion and engagement.

CARLSBAD, CA — Book lovers of Carlsbad unite. It's time once again for Carlsbad Reads Together with three books, one for adults, teens and one for children, according to the library.
Carlsbad has two city libraries that are open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and is closed Sunday. The Carlsbad City Library is located at 1775 Dove Lane Carlsbad. The Georgina Cole Library is located at 1250 Carlsbad Village Drive.
Starting in April, the 2023 adult selection is “The Line Becomes a River” by Francisco Cantú, which will be available in English and Spanish. "The Line Becomes a River" tells the true story of a Border Patrol agent’s experience on the front lines of the US-Mexico border and presents a nuanced, balanced view of courage and compassion in the line of duty.

Teenagers will read “Unearthed: A Jessica Cruz Story,” a graphic novel by Lilliam Rivera. “Unearthed” available to read on Hoopla or through the library catalog. Teens in grades 7 to 12 can fill out an online form to receive a free copy of the book while supplies last. Email libraryteens@carlsbadca.gov for more details.
For children, the April 2023 Children's Carlsbad Reads Together selection is “Bright Star” by Yuyi Morales, available in English and Spanish. Reserve a copy from the Carlsbad City Library or enjoy on Hoopla in eAudiobook or read-along format.

"Throughout the month of April 2023, we'll host book discussions, an author visit, and offer corresponding Exploration HUB classes, youth and teen events and more," a spokesperson for the library wrote on the Carlsbad City Library website.
