Carlsbad Unified School District: Chromebook And Meal Service Location Update
As previously noted, students do not need a district-issued chromebook to receive lessons from their teacher.
March 27, 2020
As you know, next week we’ll begin the transition to Remote Online Learning. Our Resources for Remote Online Learning website includes information your student will need for accessing our online learning platforms beginning on Tuesday, March 31. Your teacher will provide more detailed information by that date.

As previously noted, students do not need a district-issued chromebook to receive lessons from their teacher. Any internet connected computer, tablet or cell phone will work.
All of our middle school and high school students already have district-issued chromebooks, and we provided a chromebook check-out day last week for elementary families in need of an internet-connected device for learning at home. We realize, however, that some of you may have a district-issued chromebook in need of repair; additionally, some elementary families may have missed the pickup, or decided that they now would like to use a district device for Remote Online Learning.

We plan to distribute additional chromebooks and replace damaged chromebooks next week. In order for us to determine how many devices to prepare, we’re asking families to fill out this form. Many of you have already received this form via email from your principal; if you’ve already filled it out, there’s no need to do so again. After you complete the form, you’ll receive specific information from us about the date/time for pickup.
As shared previously, on Monday, March 30 we’re changing the location of our daily meal service from Jefferson Elementary to Carlsbad High School. Meal distribution will continue to include breakfast and lunch, and service will remain during the hours of 11:30 am to 1 pm, Monday through Friday.
We will plan to distribute additional chromebooks to families at the same time; we have ample space at Carlsbad High School to allow for appropriate physical distancing (for your safety and the safety of our staff).
Again, please fill out this form if you are in need of a district-issued chromebook for student learning, so we can have the proper number of devices prepared next week. After you fill out the form, someone from our Instructional Technology Department will reach out to you with specific information about picking up the device.
