Congratulations to three of Carlsbad Unified's finest who were honored by the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce at its CBAD Awards ceremony last week.

Carla Bos, Principal of Jefferson Elementary, was named Administrator of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce. Superintendent Ben Churchill calls Principal Bos “an accomplished and inspiring instructional leader who builds strong relationships with students, teachers, parents, and the community.”
Calavera Hills Middle School science teacher Patti Langen was honored as a Teacher of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce. With 16 years of experience at the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park, Mrs. Langen uses her knowledge of animal conservation to bring innovation into her classroom. Her students have conducted beach clean-up days and have started a business to protect butterflies.

Mrs. Langen takes her Environmental Science classes on weekly trips to the Calavera Hills Nature Preserve for hands-on learning.
Cedric Hart was also honored as a Teacher of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Hart, a part-time PE teacher, after-school instructor, and tutor at Jefferson Elementary School, is known for motivating his students to do their best.
