CUSD Adopts Resolution Supporting People Of Asian Ancestry And Condemning Harassment, Violence And Hatred Toward People of Asian Descent

Carlsbad Unified School District remains committed to supporting all students and staff.

On March 24, 2021, the Carlsbad Unified School District (CUSD) Board of Trustees unanimously adopted a resolution in support of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) students and families. In the resolution, the CUSD Board “condemns hatred, xenophobia, harassment and violence towards people of Asian ancestry and commits to creating a supportive, inclusive culture that fully embraces students of Asian descent.” The full resolution can be found here: https://bit.ly/3ruECDM

Early this year, on June 24, 2021, the CUSD Board adopted a resolution reaffirming a commitment to fight racism “in all of its forms through a safe, equitable, and high-quality education for all students and an inclusive working environment for all employees.” The full resolution can be found here: https://bit.ly/3tRSKbG

Carlsbad Unified School District remains committed to supporting all students and staff. Through the formation of district-wide and site-based Equity Committees, district staff continue to promote equity and inclusion for all, including members of the BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ and other communities, by examining issues of institutional equity; advising district staff on responses to incidents of bias and harassment; providing Unconscious Bias training for all educators; and providing resources and guidance to help educators and students combat racism and hate.
