CUSD Champion, Destini Perkins, Fulfilling Her SCHS Genius Project
The response was great and the students really enjoyed it. She put a lot of time into it and the take away was great.
Destini Perkins, a CUSD Champion, is fulfilling her SCHS Genius Project by visiting 3rd Graders at Calaveras Elementary, Jefferson Elementary and Kelly Elementary during Black History Month.
Destini is enlightening young minds during Black History month by sharing information about how African Americans influenced our American Culture.

She showed a video of students explaining what Black History month meant to them, read a few stories, and then lead an art project teaching students to make a bookmark, themed after the famous speech by Martin Luther King Jr. The bookmarks read, I Have a Dream to be....
