The CUSD champions visit all 5th grade elementary schools in cusd prior to mini march madness which is March 26th this year. They talk with the students about sportsmanship in and out of school, being a friend, inclusiveness and friendship.

Carlsbad Unified School District in collaboration with the City of Carlsbad Recreation Department and the Carlsbad Boys and Girls Clubs will be hosting its annual “Mini March Madness” Basketball Tournament.
The Tournament will take place on Thursday, March 26, 2020 starting at 2:00 pm at Poinsettia School, 2445 Mica Road in Carlsbad.

This is an opportunity for the community to support students and cheer for the players in the District in an active, positive environment. This event displays a great partnership between CUSD, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Carlsbad and the City of
Carlsbad incorporating the T.R.U.S.T. (Teaching Respect, Unity, ad Sportsmanship through Teamwork) code of ethics.
The teams are comprised of 5 th grade boys and girls teams from all nine elementary schools in the Carlsbad Unified School District; Aviara Oaks, Buena Vista, Calavera Hills, Hope, Jefferson, Kelly, Magnolia, Pacific Rim, and Poinsettia.
Come support the students representing their school! Tournament starts at 2pm. The perpetual trophy will be presented to the winning schools approximately at 4:40pm.
