CUSD Update On Grading During School Facility Closures - April 22

On April 22, 2020, the Carlsbad Unified School District Board of Trustees voted to approve the following temporary grading policy during school facility closures due to COVID-19:

- For grades TK through 5: elementary school end-of-year report cards will only reflect comments and feedback from teachers. No grades will be reported.
- For grades 6 through 8: middle school end-of-year report cards will reflect “credit” or “no credit.” No letter grades will be reported for semester 2.
- For grades 9 through 12: students will be able to choose one of the following for the current term:
- receive a traditional letter grade for all courses (with GPA weight); or
- receive “credit” or “no credit” for all courses (with no impact to GPA).
We will work closely with high school teachers and counselors to determine how to implement this, and will provide more detail to students and families as soon as we are able to do so.
