Driver Escapes Minutes Before Train Hits Car In North County
There were no injuries when a vehicle went onto railroad tracks and was struck by a train in the Camp Pendleton area.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — There were no injuries when a vehicle went onto railroad tracks and was struck by a train Sunday in the Camp Pendleton area of San Diego County.
The car got off Interstate 5 at Las Pulgas Road and came to a stop on railroad tracks at about 7:45 p.m. Sunday, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. The driver got out of the car about five minutes before a southbound Amtrack train struck the vehicle.
"The train was traveling approximately 45 miles per hour," a news release from the sheriff's department said. "There were no injuries as a result of the collision."
