A citizen rescued a duck that had a fishhook stuck deep in its throat and brought the duck to California Veterinary Specialists (CVS) in Murrieta. The CVS emergency team took quick action and were able to sedate the duck using anesthesia, which is not easy on a duck, and successfully remove the hook with pliers.
The duck is doing just fine and will be able to fully recover. They will release him back to the pond where he was found. This is a unique story but a great reminder to us all. If you or anyone you know enjoys fishing please remind them to properly dispose of used or unused fishing hooks and line. We all need to do our part to keep not only our pets at home safe but also continue to do small steps to keep wildlife safe as well.
