DUI Checkpoint Scheduled Friday In Carlsbad

CARLSBAD, CA — Police will conduct a DUI checkpoint Friday night in Carlsbad.

The checkpoint will take place from 6 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday at Carlsbad Boulevard and Beech Avenue in Carlsbad, according to the Carlsbad Police Department.

During the checkpoint, officers will look for signs that drivers are under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Drivers charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license, according to the department.

Funding for the checkpoint program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
