Parenting Workshop Series for Spanish Speakers

Carlsbad Unified School District (CUSD) is presenting an eight-week “Learning to be Better Parents” workshop specifically for Spanish-speaking mothers and fathers of District students.

The classes, which will be taught by Dr. Beatriz Villarreal, will run every Wednesday from Jan. 18–March 7.

Parents who complete the entire eight-week course will graduate on March 7, 2012.

Pre-registration is recommended for this workshop, which is sponspred by Encinitas-based Mano-a-Mano Foundation, and the cost is free. Childcare will be provided. Registration forms are available at school offices, including Carlsbad High.

Workshop topics include communication, dangers of gang involvement, drug and alcohol prevention, violence, self-esteem and other issues that affect youth. The classes are intended to help parents develop productive strategies to help their children at home so they can succeed in school and in life.
