Festival Of Lanterns Slated At Alga Norte Aquatic Center In Carlsbad

CARLSBAD, CA — Community members are invited to a night of light and reflection Saturday at the Festival of Lanterns in Carlsbad.

Hundreds of lanterns are expected to float in the Alga Norte Aquatic Center recreation pool during this year's event, according to the city. Lanterns can be purchased ahead of time or at the event to decorate with pictures and inspirational messages.

The free event is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. Lanterns will be launched into the pool starting at 6:15 p.m. There will also be entertainment including music, performances and readings.

Lanterns cost $5 each and there is no limit per person. They can be purchased and decorated until 6:15 p.m. Saturday at Alga Norte Aquatic Center, 6565 Alicante Road, Carlsbad.

Lanterns are biodegradable and will not be returned after the event, according to the city.
