Fire Erupts At Oceanside Inn And Suites Early Tuesday

CARLSBAD, CA — Carlsbad fire department assisted in the firefight of an Oceanside motel early Tuesday. A total of 19 motel guests of the drive-up motel were evacuated due to the blaze, the Oceanside Fire Department said.

Just after 4 a.m., fire erupted at the Oceanside Inn & Suites at 1820 South Coast Highway, according to an OFD battalion chief.

The Carlsbad Fire Department and Oceanside Fire Department worked to vent the roof and stop the fire from spreading in a common attic.

Firefighters also searched the motel rooms to evacuate occupants and evaluate the fire spread of the 22 motel rooms. Of the total number of rooms, 19 were occupied by guests, according to reports.

Officials said the Red Cross was called to help the motel guests with temporary housing and necessities.

Firefighters had the fire under control within 20 minutes of dispatch time.

No injuries were reported to the motel occupants or firefighters.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
