Summer is filled with a lot of time to relax and have fun. However, for teens it is a great time to get a summer job. With a less constricted school schedule, students can make a little extra money for college or savings and have something to put on resumes as well.
1. Lifeguarding
Carlsbad is always sunny, so chances are lifeguards are needed more during the summer! The job offers skills to become more responsible, alert, and overall more prepared later on in life for possible danger around the water. Whether it's at your local gym or community park, more jobs are usually offered in the summer time.
2. Legoland
Ah yes, the park you may have known over many years is also a great place to find a job. The park offers jobs for many different skill levels and time constraints. The website is easy to use in order to find a job possibly suitable for you. Not to mention, a job in a theme park is pretty cool to tell your friends about.
3. Babysitting
Even when students are free for the summer, parents are still at work. This means they still need someone to watch their kids. Becoming a mother's helper or taking up more neighborhood jobs is a great way to make some quick cash and learn how to take care of children with hands on experience.
4. Internships
Whether you get paid or not, an internship can give your great real world experience. If you are interested in medicine, apply for an internship at the hospital to find out if that type of field really is for you or not. Whether you end up hating it or loving it, you've spent you're time efficiently because it helps narrow down what you want to do later on in a career. Not to mention, with no burden of homework or school it's easier to focus on dedicating yourself to the internship and finding a true passion.
5. Tutoring
If you are fairly good at a certain topic in school and have taken more advanced classes in the subject, put that knowledge to use and tutor younger students. Many parents put their children is summer tutoring to stay sharp over the long summer. Or perhaps you are passionate about music, teach others through scheduled lessons how to play the instrument.
