'Luckey Climbers' Hit San Diego: See Ya, Monkey Bars!
This latest evolution in jungle gyms has arrived in North County – the first in San Diego and among only seven in CA.
CALSBAD, CA – Luckey Climbers, a company that constructs unique children's play structures designed by "kid architect" Spencer Luckey, recently unveiled its most recent installation at The Forum Carlsbad shopping center –the first "Luckey" play area in San Diego County.
Part jungle gym, part work of art, the outdoor climbing sculpture stands 28 feet high and is made up of 25 "rotationally molded plastic climbing platforms" arranged in a flow of colors: Creamsicle, Yellow Orange, Yellow, Citron, Pale Sea Foam and Glow-in-the-Dark.
Designer Luckey's goal is to erect spaces that encourage creative play and adventure for youngsters while challenging them to problem-solve, think spatially and, most of all, to be with other kids, the company said, adding that the firm has a "spotless safety record since the foundation of Luckey LLC in 1985."

"Our code dictates that there are no falls greater than 18 inches and platforms are placed so that no child can slide down multiple climbing panels," officials said. "Children engage all of their senses and if you can’t stand up, you can’t fall down."
Parents looking for a day out with shopping, dining and fun for the little ones can hit up The Forum shops at 1923 Calle Barcelona in Carlsbad, where management is pleased to offer the kid-friendly space.
