Man Arrested For DUI, Manslaughter In Fatal North County Crash: Police

OCEANSIDE, CA — A man was arrested over the weekend after crashing a car into a tree in northern San Diego County, killing one of his passengers, authorities said.
The deadly crash happened at 1:54 a.m. Sunday on state Route 76 and Airport Road in Oceanside. The driver, identified as Guillermo Sanchez Pacheco, 29, of Oceanside, was traveling eastbound when he lost control of the 2003 Nissan Maxima and crashed into a tree on the south shoulder of the roadway, according to the Oceanside Police Department.
"The investigation is ongoing, and it is suspected that alcohol and speed were a factor in the collision," police said in a news release.

Pacheco was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter.
The rear passenger, a 30-year-old man who has not yet been identified, was killed in the crash, police said. Pacheco and the front-seat passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
