Child Rescued From Cliff In Carlsbad

Firefighters rescued a 12-year-old from a cliff near North Ponto Beach​ in Carlsbad.

CARLSBAD, CA – Firefighters rescued a child from a cliff near North Ponto Beach in Carlsbad Wednesday.

The 12-year-old fell about 25 to 30 feet down a cliff around 11:12 a.m., Carlsbad fire Division Chief Mike Lopez said. Fire crews from the cities of Carlsbad and Encinitas responded to the scene, as well as Carlsbad police and lifeguards and personnel from California State Parks.

Lopez said the 12-year-old was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. The child was believed to have suffered minor injures.
